Dr. Robert Bear practiced as a nephrologist for over 30 years. He was a professor of medicine at the University of Toronto and subsequently at the University of Alberta. He also held senior management positions in several health care organizations in Alberta and Ontario, worked broadly as a health care consultant, and published widely in the medical sphere. He is the author of the novel Sorrow’s Reward, which is set in a dialysis unit. He and his wife divide their time between Canmore, Alberta and Naples, Florida. He blogs on health care at sorrowsreward.com.
