This is Yezarni. He is a graduating fourth year medical student.
“As a final year medical student, I feel very conflicted during this time of COVID19. On one hand, I feel very inspired to see my mentors and friends who are resident doctors on the frontlines. They are treating patients with COVID and curbing this pandemic.
But I also feel very powerless.
I’m unable to pitch in as someone about to transition into residency myself this summer.
I’ve tried to involve myself to support my colleagues through sourcing PPE from the community, which has been fulfilling but overwhelming as well. Something I’m reflecting on during this time of social distancing is that it is okay to take a step back if we are privileged to do so. We are amidst incredibly stressful times and also need to ensure we are taking care of ourselves, staying connected to our loved ones, and having time to rest in order to remain resilient.”
