This is Alena. She is a chiropractor. She uses hands on methods to treat patient’s muscles and joint problems.
“The severity of COVID-19 hit me when I received the recommendation from the College of Chiropractors of Ontario to suspend all non-essential services except for emergency cases. I live with immunocompromised family members and made the decision to self-isolate and refer acute patients to other chiropractors.
I feel like an inadequate healthcare provider. It sounds like an oxymoron to stay at home to help others.
I’m frustrated to have the abilities to relieve people’s physical pain, but not be able to – all the while recognizing the bigger picture that lives are at risk.
This time has forced us to think outside the box, and be creative to continue to support those who need it. I connect with my patients through e-mail, sending over exercises, stretches, and advice as needed. I transitioned my in-person prenatal yoga and learn program to online.
Despite everything, I feel so fortunate for my health and to have so many brave practitioners on the frontlines. We are so thankful for you.”
