“I started in the emergency department over a year ago, and I would say this pandemic is nothing out of the ordinary for me.
I knew taking a job in the ED would have some surprises, but I believe I was destined to be in the healthcare field. I am confident that I will be prepared and able to adapt to my environment, regardless of my situation.
I am often scared for those around me who have no choice to live in this lockdown with me. More than half of the people in my household work in a hospital, and [I live with] my grandparents who are 85 and going strong. Fortunately they live in the basement, and ever since the lockdown we’ve been limiting interactions with my grandparents and those not working in the hospital.
My grandparents do not like sitting around and want to do something around the house or go outside. I just try to be positive for my family. This is the new normal and we just have to be thankful we are alive and healthy.”
