“There has been a rollercoaster of events and emotions over the last two and a half months. Sure, I could talk about the fear, anxiety, uncertainty, the annoyance of having to wear a mask 12 hours of my day, of not being able to physically spend time with loved ones… the list goes on. But I’ve been fortunate to experience another side of all of this.
I feel thankful to be in the right place at the right time. To be afforded – by God’s grace – with health, strength, perseverance, resilience, and a strong desire to continue to do the job I signed up for.
I feel thankful to be supported by the community, who have showered us with gifts of gratitude; by family and friends, who continue to check in on me day after day; and by the incredibly dedicated and ever hard-working team of healthcare providers I have the privilege of working amongst every day.
It hasn’t been the easiest of times, but then again nursing is never really easy. There is a lot that goes into the daily routine of being a nurse, and adding a pandemic to the mix has certainly made things interesting. But through it all it’s nice to know we’re in it together – and together we will get through it.
