In Their Own Words

Lockdown charge

When the pandemic first started, I was in Inuvik (up north). The police went to my house and talked to my mom about going into lockdown. I wasn’t informed of the lockdown because I was in my room when the police talked to my mom. Later that day, me and my sibling went to the park because no one had told us about the pandemic. We saw no one outside so we were out there with everyone watching us. I saw someone with a phone watching us and calling someone. I informed my siblings and 30 minutes later the police told us to get in the car and ask where we lived and I told them. They drove us home and told my mom and after that we got charged and my mom got mad at us but the bill was covered by social services. I got my stuff taken away in the end.
