Dr. Annalee Coakley is a physician and researcher and co-directs the Migration & Humanitarian Health Collective at the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine.
We are clinicians and health system researchers. Through both our clinical and academic work, we bear witness to a health system that is under great pressure, with more sick patients and fewer hospital beds and resources to meet their needs.
Alberta cannot build a functioning health system by recruiting newcomers to sustain it while denying some of them the care and education that allow them to live, work and stay.
