This is Mike. He works as a security officer at the hospital.
“As a member of the security team, when we attend a call, depending on the scenario, we may not have time to put on all of our proper PPE.
Everyday, I hope that I don’t spread COVID-19 to the people in my household.
I do my best to clean up after myself by wiping areas I have been or items I’ve used. I currently live with my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Due to the virus, my great-grandma had to move out and stay with my great aunt as we were scared I may infect her. My mom has asthma so I have to be extra cautious about cleanliness.
Funny enough, before the pandemic, I used to only work night shifts. I experienced low traffic, stores were closed, and I wasn’t able to do any extracurricular activities. Switching to day shifts was a way for me to change my lifestyle so that I had time to exercise, see my family, attend my medical appointments and attend social outings. It just so happens that when I switched over, COVID-19 had hit Canada. Sports were shut down, places were closed. The only thing that I was grateful for was able to see my family more frequently.”
