    I would just add:
    Patients need all their options outlined and explained, both pros and cons. Patients should be given time to consider their surgical options, including having a list of reputable surgeons in this field before signing the consent document. In smaller hospitals not all surgeons have the updated skills or equipment to offer the most up to date procedures. This poses the risk that the local surgeon might not inform the patient of other surgical treatments that might be more suitable/beneficial for his/her patient. A well informed GP would benefit patients.
